Pretty solid meat plate. Lots of tvs. Best part about this place is the different BBQ sauce they have.

Alright so Joe Bucks is pretty much right down the street from the hotel I am staying at. I figure after a longer day of work that I just wanted a quick bite to eat and this was my spot to hit up. It is pretty close to the ballpark so I imagine that it gets a lot of traffic for pre and post game events. The restaurant itself is a very open environment with plenty of tables all over the joint. There are pictures all around the restaurant of Joe Buck with various folks. We were greeted promptly at the door and told that there would be a small wait for a table which perplexed me as there did not seem to be that many tables filled up or we could choose to sit at the bar. We chose the latter and walked over to a high table and sat down. First thing I notice is that there are not enough TV's at the right angle around the entire area so if you are there to watch a game pick your seats wisely. On top of that the service in the bar area was a tad slow. It was also interesting because we would order a variety of drinks and it seemed like they kept running out of bottles of alcohol? I mean I know we are good drinkers but not that good. Maybe a stocking issue... The server did not seem too friendly at first although she warmed up to us a bit after we were there for a bit. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and not bad for what it was. Nothing amazing and the side of bacon mac and cheese was nothing impressive I would say. This joint is a spot that is convenient I think and therefore a spot to check out but food is just OK.

So I walk in and see a picture of a dude posing with other people - and I said to the person I was with - Oh Wow! "Joe Buck is a real person, is he a local celebrity or something?" She was annoyed, apparently I'm not a big enough sports fan. Anyway, I'm a vegan - BUT there were some decent vegan options. I got the portobella mushroom burger -quite good. Sweet potato fries (covered in cinnamon sugar - too sweet), and hummus (topped with cheese and I do not recall this being in the menu - so I had to scrape that off. The food was average, that's fine... however... cleanliness was what grossed me out. When I sat down I noticed the table was sticky - not a big deal, but as I was stretching after my meal, I had looked up and noticed how FILTHY the air vents are. Yes, I get it - it's an older building, they get dusty - but it looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years! Caked with dirt and cobwebs. Please... hire a cleaning service. If the air vents are that dirty, what else is that dirty as well?

Nice building. Nice pictures. But after I was left with a beer, and a menu, that was where the service stopped. Being rain soaked and the only person at the bar @8 o'clock, I finished my beer and threw in the towel. Never was asked to take my order the whole time. You'll have to let me know how the food is, all I did was study the menu by myself for 20 minutes and leave.

Walked 10 blocks because I was told the BBQ is good. Should have known better. It is 3:55 and they served me the driest brisket I have ever had. Must be left over's. With brisket yielding at $9 lb they should just take it off the menu if they can't afford to serve it fresh thru the day. Host at the door was too busy on the phone to point me in the right direction. Had to find the bar myself. Bartender (server) was good.

Very fast service. Friendly atmosphere, bit it seems like it's mostly senior citizens or retirees that dined here. The food and drinks were mediocre at best

Lunch today before game. Server was inattentive and surly. The Sauvignon Blanc by the glass is cheap crap. I ordered the Triple Play, which is choice of 3 different sliders plus side. I ordered BBQ brisket, cheeseburger, & BBQ turkey. All 3 sucked. First off, the potato bun was doughy & ratio of bread to meat was way off. I eliminated the top bun altogether and it was still too much bread. The brisket was sinewy and fatty (third of it was fat). Cheeseburger was TINY. I'm talking about half the diameter of the bun, THIN, (1 oz maybe) and the cheese was similar to processed Kraft slices. The turkey meat slider was very good - moist, and the largest portion (still too much bread ratio). I had onion rings as a side. GREASY. No seasoning, void of flavor. Not even onion flavor. Unsalted even. I was dining with others, they eat here regularly on business, and it was their business write off, so I graciously ate about 1/2 the food on my plate, and didn't complain. Had the circumstances been different, I would have sent my food back, and ordered as the "regular" did - a SALAD (which looked ok). The interior is nice. We ate on the patio, which has good views and good smells (from their smoker). Too bad they didn't have good tastes to go with it!

Visit #1 (positive) Welcomed by the aroma de bbq in the parking lot (great way to start your visit!). Very cool restaurant space - open, freshly designed, and midwestern clean (translate very clean). The food was excellent and having the choice of 4 different sauces to experiment with made for a great bbq eating experience! The food was fresh and hot. Bbq was tender and tasty. Pre-game drinks hit the spot. Service was friendly and prompt. Visit #2 (not so great). Granted it was post NLCS chaos up in there which caused service and kitchen craziness staff could not prevent. However, food was lackluster and all three meats on my sliders were dry. Only 2 of the 4 sauces were available at our table. Onion rings were wa-waaaa. My sexy sexy companion ordered one entree and received another. Only two visits but I'm calling this inconsistent.

Had lunch here. Service was extremely slow. Had the special fish and chips. The fish was extremely greasy. Not flakey. Chips where overly seasoned. They have a parking lot that doesn't state you need to obtain a ticket from the restaurant to exit. Don't think I'll return anytime soon.

In STL for business. Was tired of eating at the restaurant in the Westin, so walked across the street to JBs. Place looked nice, but was empty on a Weds night. Sat at the bar and ordered the 1/2 price Nachos. Bad. Ordered the brisket, pulled pork, baked beans and Mac and cheese. All were served lukewarm. Brisket was average, pulled pork was fatty, baked beans and Mac and Cheese tasted horrible. How do you mess up Mac & Cheese!!!! One and done. Barkeep was a nice girl. Forgettable, just like St Louis.... Highlight must be the stadium...nothing else downtown.

Great pre-game post-game location. I went in with a friend before a Cardinal's game and had a wonderful experience. Our food was flavorful and plentiful. I ordered the roast turkey with the mixed green salad which comes with a huge piece of tasty dessert like cornbread. Loved every bite. Our waiter was also very good. He was attentive and didn't rush us even though the restaurant was getting crowded before the game. He even let us hang around a little longer to wait out the rain. I'll be making this a regular game day visit.

0 stars. Apparently, I have to select at least one star...fine. Food is whatever, but Joe Buck just said " go get 'em tomorrow night" to a Giant on national broadcast during the NLCS.

The toasted ravioli was Yummy!! Always a St. Louis favorite!!!! You've got to try the black Angus beef brisket. The spicy sauce was really good with the brisket. Service fantastic!!!

Need more vegetarian options on the game day menu. Service is great and onion rings are excellent. Wines are pricey.

If you can't make it to Pappy's Smokehouse, this is a good second option. The restaurant is a bit more quiet. The food is good and cheap. I had the wings and beef brisket with a side salad and a piece of cornbread. The meal wasn't life altering great but just good. Only problem I had was with the BBQ sauce options. I wanted more heat and humph in the sauces. They were a bit bland.

first time was wonderful, they used to have a "All-U-Can-Top" burger, think it was 10.50 or 11bucks, unlimited toppings!!!!! oh hmm, that's gone now....oh, and the prices went WAAAAAY up (compared to what they used to be). now it's not super pricey compared to LA, NYC, etc, but c'mon, this is StL, not manhattan. food IS decent, but nothing earth shattering, service is average, and prices are just a little steep, even for 2 blocks from the stadium. sorry Joe, have to give you 3 stars, wish i could give 4 (hey, at least the fries were good) but not going to happen. keep your expectations moderate when going here~

They have "DUDE" Vodka! What?? Yes..there is such a thing and as a joke we had a chilled shot of it. I can tell you that you don't need to go anywhere near dude vodka, but if you do go to good ole Joe's! Seriously though..dude vodka does not taste like sweaty man as you might think. It is like mountain dew vodka. Food was ok, you know...bar food type of stuff. Service was great at the bar and my party was all having a great time. Looks like a spot to hang before or after a game. I was kinda bummed that they didn't have any local brew on tap.

Just finished eating lunch at Joe Buck's. Been there, done that, won't do it again. Macaroni & cheese (where was the cheese?) was too flour-y; ribs were so-so -- not fall off the bone tender; brisket was cold, tuff & barely smokey; cornbread was doughy. On the bright side, beer was good.

Still a solid choice for lunch Downtown, Joe Buck's (in my opinion of course) lost its edge as the de facto "cheaper than Mike Shannon's without being 'cheaper' than Mike Shannon's" choice when it converted from its former American cuisine to a BBQ format. It was an unfortunate development, but not a wholly bad one. The fact of the matter is that business people and visitors to Downtown eat lunch out a lot. When clients are visiting, you want to catch up with colleagues or the conference has its lunch-on-your-own break, it's nice to be able to dine somewhere with service that understands that lunch needs to be about an hour, wait times (if any) are predictable and the food is pretty good. JBuck's used to offer all of these via ample seating (including some semi-private dining spaces that could be reserved, booths, tables and space at the bar), generally quick service and a menu that included burgers, appetizers, salads, pizza and a few entrees including pastas. Sub out the pasta and pizza for BBQ (plus add a few more pictures of Joe to the restaurant) and you more-or-less have the current Joe Buck's (thus, in most respects, all is still fine at 10th and Clark). The difference lies in how BBQ is presented and eaten versus many regular entrees. With a more nonchalant menu design and almost-impossible-to-eat-gracefully dishes like ribs on offer, it's more clear that this is a nice casual venue than anything else. Make no mistake: the smoked wings are quite good, servers seem quick and aware of what's going on, and the dining spaces are professional and loft-like. The price, atmosphere and overall food quality are what you'd expect.

I have very mixed feelings about JBucks Downtown, but my attempt last night to get out of the cold and get some good food was successful! I like that you can walk here from the stadium, and that they also have plenty of seating so wait times are usually small. One thing to note is that there are several tables in the dining area where you can't see a single TV. Yeah, that's not gonna work. Our server was kind enough to move us to a different table which was much better, but you'd think old Joe could throw up another TV or two to take care of that problem, right? Anyway, service was great and I was happy once I could see the game. We started dinner with the soft pretzels, and if that's all I was rating here, I'd give it one measly star. These pretzels were NOT soft -- I actually hurt my mouth trying to eat one of them! I ended up just trying to dig out some of the middle to eat it, and then I just gave up. I thought that was foreshadowing a horrendous rest of the meal, but to my surprise, it wasn't. I had the beer battered tilapia sandwich, and WOW was it good! The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the fries were so good that I couldn't stop eating them... definite success with that item. We all got dessert at the end (it's a long game okay?!) and I highly recommend the gooey butter cake with chocolate ice cream. It's as good as it sounds. Skip the JBuck's cheesecake because it's way too rich. I do like this place, but I must say, ENOUGH with the pictures of Joe Buck everywhere! We get it, it's your restaurant, that's awesome. But I do not need to see your face on menus, on walls, on photos on the walls, all over the bar, etc. At one point I looked up and he was on TV during the game, and I thought I was losing my mind. It's just weird. I'll come back again and I do think the food here is worth it, even if you do get overloaded with Joe.

Joe Buck's is going to get its business due to mr. j buck's name and his reputation with the city. This place is actually a great place to watch sports with a lively environment, but overall I'd have to give it 3 out of 5 stars. First off, they have a happy hour until 6:30 with cheap ($2-$3) draft beers and "randomly discounted appetizers at a random percentage"...a quote from waitstaff...went ahead an decided to order a bbq platter at regular price than randomly order a bunch of appetizers in hopes that there's enough food...regular portions are large here. Meats: I've tried the pulled pork, turkey, and brisket and must say that if you're going to get a two meat platter, you have to go with the pulled pork and turkey. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE brisket fan coming from texas, but this is probably the worst brisket i've ever had. ever. So thin and dry that even shots of the three bbq sauces on the table could help. Sides: Got the house made chips, which were good and the sweet potato fries, both of which were recommended by our waitress and both came out just fine. This place will get packed on ballgame days and I'm sure the crowd will be rowdy, but overall this wouldn't be my first choice to eat if I was looking for a decent dinner spot in downtown Stl. Quick Tip: 1) If you're going for happy hour, there's a happy hour menu available online but for some reason they don't have one in the restaurant itself. 2) get there earlier on game days

The service was okay and the food was a little worse than that. The BBQ sauce was very boring which is not what I expected in St. Louis. To make our experience worse, the Mountain Dew ran out on a Saturday afternoon.

This is definitely a go-to place when needing a good place to have a lunch meeting in the downtown St. Louis area. For the healthy eaters, go for the spinach salad. It's a great dish, healthy and hearty. One of my colleagues has several pretty severe food allergies, so when we have a lunch meeting that includes her, we always go to Joe Buck's because they are so incredibly accommodating. It's really appreciated!

I don't find Joe Buck as a very good broadcaster. He's conservative, not really outspoken, and rather boring. [ I think he is a Cards fan, which is good! ] However, I loved his restaurant and would eat here again. The BBQ ribs were delicious and very good. I ordered the full slab and they were very good. No dry rub here like the likes of Pappy's, but the pork was falling off the bone, with not too much fat, but just enough. Sweet potato fries are better here than they are at Pappy's. I do prefer the dry rub over Joe's, but he has a delicious place to eat. Bathrooms were clean and big. Buck, I am impressed, nice place. Your restaurant is much better than just 3 stars, 4 stars, yes...5 stars, why not?

Ribs were great and dessert was awesome. For $11 you get a 10 pound piece of ice cream cake with cookie crust, chocolate crunchies and more. Service was excellent. I'm planning to go back for the cake on an empty stomach before my visit is finished.

Average food! Need bigger, juicier burgers! And rib sandwich was on really dead, dry bread! Sports atmosphere we love! But, work on the food or you are going to lose more customers! Joe Buck! Man, bring it!

Met a large group here for my sis-in-laws bday. The space itself is very nice- exposed wood beams, high ceilings, lots of space & light- an industrial loft feel. Wanted beer since it we would be eating bar food and bbq, and was disappointed in their draft selection. Not very many choices, and nothing adventurous. We ordered numerous apps to pass around. The calamari with an orange butter sauce, smoked wings, and fried pickles were good. T ravs, potato skins, spinach artichoke dip, and onion rings were okay. I ordered the nacho app for my entree, and it was huge- way bigger than most of the entrees that the table got. Luckily my law student nephew was there so I could eat about a fourth of the plate and send the rest home for him and his fellow student roommates that are always hungry and never picky. The nachos were lackluster. Not much pulled pork, and the sauce was light & sweet when bold & spicy would have been the better fit. Most of the family got bbq platters of some sort, and the feedback was just okay. Average meat, average sauce, bland sides of just basic coleslaw and beans. They would be better off to focus on smaller portions but higher quality. Our server was nice, but not as helpful and efficient as he could have been. He would disappear for long stretches, which is not good with a large group. Also, we ordered a bottle of Veuve to toast the bday, and they brought one glass- and again disappeared. I have read some reviews about it being a decent lunch spot, and that makes sense. Pre or post game might also be fun just for drinks and apps at the bar.

What sports bar closes at 10? This one obviously. The bar tender was friendly and talkative although her recommendation of gooey butter cake was not the "magical wonder" she made it out to be. Kind of gross if you ask me!

    (2)
  • Andrew W.

Just went for dessert and to watch the hockey game. Gooey butter cake in STL should not be just okay. And a bar in the city, a sports bar with games on the TV that are not over at 10pm, should not close at 10pm.

Went here with a group of 8 people before an event. We told our server we were on a schedule and then he took 20 minutes to take our order. We asked another server if he could help us and he was rude. 20 minutes after we ordered, our server came back and said they were out of pork. It took forever for him to bring cocktails. We then paid or drink bill and walked out or we would have missed our event. Terrible. They were somewhat crowded (after a Cardinals day game), but our service was totally unacceptable. I've eaten here before and like the BBQ, but this was one of the worst customer service experiences we've experienced. Management should not allow this terrible service and I may never return.

Can you say unorganized and scatter brained? These servers had no idea what they were doing. Someone seated us and a guy came up, didn't know the specials, didn't know the special offers on wine for the day. And only brought us sodas...Then we waited for a "normal" server and no one came. I guess we came before the dinner shift 4:55...And no one was ready...wtf? At the last minute, when we were about to get up and leave from waiting so long, he apologized and stated he knew what the special were and could help us...We were perplexed, to say the least...But we just wanted to order and eat! I mean, we just got off a plane and into our hotel and we were starving! We split the burger with fries and it was good. A little over cooked for me, but the fries were good. Got to say if you go here, just eat the pretzel bread, it's awesome. I should have just ordered that appetizer and ate bread for the night.....But for service and anything else...Don't bother. Cheesy decorations, dark look, and a wine bar area...But bleh. no.

Went for lunch with the work crew first time at Joe Bucks. I ordered the petit prime ( 5oz hamburger) I ordered it medium it came well done. My side was the three cheese bacon mac, hello cheese soup with mac noodles. The weirdest part was being served our drinks in small plastic cups.

I stopped in last night for drinks. The place is very nice. They spent some money renovating this old building. It's almost too nice... too corporate looking. Service was average. Drinks were strong. And the location was perfect...just a stones throw away from Busch. Parking can be a hassle during ballgames... they have a private lot but it must have been full because there was a sign blocking it off.

    (3)
  • Tom C.

Food is average at best but the atmosphere and location close to the stadium helps make up for it. They took good care of a large (60+) group of co-workers with a nice, private space for the group and good bar/food set up.

Overall, a huge disappointment. Went for the first time last night, which happened to coincide with the downtown Billy Joel/Elton John show. Got there just as the concert rush was wrapping up and departing. Looked like the staff wasn't ready for the crowd or was taking a breather, as 80% of the vacated tables were uncleared. After asking the staff about dining outside and being told to pick anywhere, we found the one cleared table and sat down, a small party of 3. Waited about 10 minutes before a waiter showed. In the meantime, I noticed a friend getting ready to leave and asked whether it was any good. His review..."The food sucks!, but maybe it was just because it was busy." At that point, still waiting for a server to notice us (patio completely empty now), we were just getting ready to ask for a parking voucher and leave when a waiter appeared. Now that we had their complete attention, things happened relatively quickly. Drinks, menus, apps and while we were halfway through our apps, the entrees appeared. The special was spicy Cajun shrimp pasta which my wife was all over. This is one of the menu items that is a chef's special...change the flavor each day, but $10 for a half order, $15 for a full. Serving size looked right for $10. About the size of a house salad bowl. Problem was, it was virtually tasteless. I mean, at least bring out some Tabasco or Pete's if you're gonna advertise Cajun and bring tasteless noodles. It did come with a good looking pretzel biscuit, which was okay, but overall, Huge thumbs down. Next, my friend ordered the Carolina-style pulled pork, which apparently means they put cole slaw on the sandwich. Friend visiting from Chicago was pretty disgusted. He kicked himself for not going with the standard burger...live and learn. A good indicator should have been the table next to ours, still uncleared, that had an entirely full plate of pulled pork with what appeared to be a single bite out of the sandwich. Hindsight...always 20-20. Now, I wanted a burger, but figured it would be a shame to eat at a "nice" restaurant and order ground beef, so I went with a grilled turkey sandwich...was supposed to be roasted turkey breast with Swiss and mustard. I subbed mash for fries. Sandwich looked okay but it was basically deli turkey heavy on Swiss, grilled flat like a grilled cheese...no mustard. No mustard in sight. Basically very bland. The potatoes, of course, were instant. No butter, no gravy. Just plain bad. Now, I'll critique the apps last, as they really were just an afterthought. Ordered the "deep fried tomatoes" and homemade chips with dip. I don't know what fried red tomatoes are supposed to taste like, but I would have expected something, especially since they were garnished in buffalo mozzarella. Unfortunately, they were just plain awful. No pop, no zing, no wow. I think even ketchup would have done something. Unbelievable. So, on the bright side, the space is phenomenal. I watched Cupples Station come alive over the last 5 years and was dying to see how they had finished J Buck's. It is a really awesome restoration. I guess that explains the prices. I had no doubts that the average entree would be between $25-40 bucks. I just expected something a little more spectacular on the flavor end. Sadly, now that the box is checked, I will not return to J Buck's for food. It is probably an awesome place to go for a drink or drinks after work or before a game, but if you are hungry, save your money and eat at the Eat-Rite instead. You are at least guaranteed full flavor with every bite, which means you get what you paid for. P.S. I don't know whether the menus at the other J Buck's are all the same or not. I hope not, but am not willing to risk it, based on this experience.

If you want edible food, move on in your search. Even as a bar, the Grey Goose Cosmo was so watered down it was just sad. The food is your typical institutionally prepared frozen variety. The house BBQ sauces are not made in house and are nothing but High Fructose corn syrup. This place is a sports bar, but food is important. Instead you receive a dried out piece of corn bread, anemic coleslaw (REALLY? You couldn't even get Cole Slaw Right) dried out brisket, "3 Cheese" MAC and cheese (totally inedible and tasting as if the 3 cheese sauce was made from a powder). Service was excellent, ergo 1 star. The rest was an abomination to the food industry everywhere. . MY FAULT 100% as I did not preview with Yelp!! I had just pulled into St. Louis, saw the sign and took a leap of faith. That has led to a firm commitment to always YELP first. This is one dining experience of my life I won't ever get back. Such a shame really.

A little tip for those not into sports: Don't go during a Cardinal's game, otherwise you get poor service. I got the wrong order because our waiter was busy with about 10+ other tables and had to have other staff do some of his work. Their toasted ravioli was phenomenal though.

This is another one of those places I get dragged to because if I had a choice, I would never say "DUDES LETS TOTALLY HIT UP J.BUCKS TONIGHT!" Only it's co-workers who want to come here. I work nearby so it's just a convenient spot to come for happy hour and lunch. That's about as much of an endorsement as I can give. Don't get me wrong, it's not like this place sucks. In fact, we had our holiday party here the past two years and the lunch buffett is solid. The chicken parm and mostaccioli are pretty good, but not that much better than I can make at home. The general setup of the place is your standard sports bar. Oh and it's owned by Joe Buck so that's pretty cool right? The large windows and exposed brick walls give the place a somewhat upscale-ish feel. Lots of people in suits looking important, so it appears we're not the only office who chooses to eat and drink here. It also gives this place a sterile "let's not have too much fun" kind of vibe. Except during baseball season when this place is overrun by the 20 something female "I JUST LOVE MOLINA TEE-HEE!" crowd. Pretty good pickens if you are single and into those kinds of girls. They are a step up from the ones hanging out at Al Hrabosky's, trust me. I don't hate this place but everytime I come here I can't help but feel I'd rather be hanging out somewhere else. I like to remind my co-workers that we also could walk to the Broadway Oyster Bar where they have really good food and drinks in a fun atmosphere that often has really good live music. "Yeah but J. Bucks is so close..." Ugh.

What real bar doesn't have hooks at the bar for your purse?!!! We came in after the Blues game at 10:17 for food and more drinks. We were told the kitchen was closed. There are tons of people coming in. I guess they will do what we're going to do. Go to the room and order room service. We've been here before at lunch and it's ok. Wanted some real food. That's why we came here. Well I guess it's bed time for them. Maybe they shouldn't be so close to the hockey rink if you don't want to make money.

The beautiful wife and I visited J./Joe Buck's last Saturday afternoon. It was pretty dead, except for a group of guys in suits (appeared to be some pre-wedding drinking by the groomsmen). We sat at the bar and discovered another pre-wedding drinking party that had been blocked from view due to the bar and TV. And there's only one bartender. Uh oh. Fortunately, he came over fairly quick and took our drink orders (they have a decent pint of Guinness here, but a bit too warm). We then decided to try some food, and went with the "Joe Buck's award-winning spinach artichoke dip." Not sure what awards this won, but they give you a lot of dip. Maybe biggest bowl of dip? Anyway, the flavor wasn't anything spectacular, but, it came with these tricolor tortilla chips that were awesome. I'm sure they're just some standard GFS purchase, but they really had the right amount of salt on them any everything. I found myself just eating chips. I did notice that another fellow came over to help our beleaguered bartender at some point, so at least they have some sensibility about keeping things running smoothly (though at every chance, he'd check his phone/pacifier) I can't say there's really anything that would bring me back here (outside of somebody really demanding it or free booze). Oh wait, except for the toasted ravioli pizza. It just sounds so bizarre, that it must be tried (and it's Provel free!)

Joe Bucks: Good call.... You might be familiar with Joe Buck, American Sportscaster and the son of legendary sportscaster Jack Buck. He has multiple locations of his Restaurant in the metro St. Louis area. I was in town for business and decided to check out the downtown location. It was a bit slow for a Tuesday night but that is what you get downtown on a school night with no hockey game in town during January. The staff was friendly and took my drink order: pint of Boddingtons. I also decided to try the Pretzels (with mustard & cheese) for an app. The pint was perfect pairing with the pretzels which were huge. I am talking about the size of a football. It was different for sure. From the menu and the BBQ sauce at my table this place must be a known for its ribs. So how did I end up with the Salmon? I asked what the special of the day was and it sounded pretty good. It was BBQ Salmon with mashed potatoes mixed with spinach, stuffed mushrooms & zucchini and squash. I decided to pair it with Goose Island Honker Ale which was also outstanding on draught. The salmon was awesome and the potatoes were a hit too. The mushrooms looked good but it was missing something. The chef came out and asked how I liked which was a great touch of customer service. I would definitely stop by Joe Bucks again next time in town and try those St. Louis ribs...

Any rating I give in St. Louis must be taken in context of the city I am in. Please, St. Louisans, don't take this personally, but I have traveled the world and have experience a lot. With that said, this four stars is high if compared with other places, but, for STL, it's accurate to date. I may update this if I find better. Overall, I like this place cause it's close to my hotel and I can walk to it. After Cardinal games, the crowd of loyal fans pours in and the energy level rises. Their tap has Shlafly which is an awesome local beer and their BBQ is good. I have had better but overall, the sauce and meat combo is solid. I need to try other things on the menu, but overall, I am satisfied. The staff is friendly and the pulled pork is juicy. The brisket could be juicier but the flavor is there. I'll be coming back for sure.

If you're looking for Applebee's type food at much higher prices, then indeed step on into Joe Buck's downtown. We came here for a birthday dinner and to be honest, none of us in the party except the birthday girl really wanted to go to Joe Buck's after checking out the menu. Really average-sounding food at prices you shouldn't be paying. Almost 8 bucks for chips and salsa? You are fucking kidding me, right? I finally decided on the "famous" Joe Buck's BBQ. Do yourself a favor and just go to Pappy's instead. The pulled pork was tasteless. The turkey was nice and smoky, but both portions were pretty small. The bacon mac and cheese was undercooked and just not good. The service is what stands out here--for how poor it is. Our waiter couldn't be found for the last half hour of our visit. One of our party had to go have another waiter track him down. Not ever coming here again.

My son and I spent a long weekend in St Louis and stayed at The Westin a few steps from Busch Stadium on one side and J Buck's on the other. We had not read any reviews about J Buck's and had no expectations going in. We were in the mood for BBQ and it was convenient. What a great surprise! Our first meal was an absolutely outstanding mix of their best house BBQ selections. Every element of the meal was very high quality and unique. We're not used to St Louis style BBQ so it was a little bit different for us. Absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We went back a couple more times during our visit. Again, this was a really nice surprise and everything about it was enjoyable. I commend Joe Buck (and his Dad) for putting his name on this restaurant. He should be proud.

I visited J. Bucks back when they had a location on the east side of the river in Fairview Heights and wasn't impressed enough to visit the location downtown. Last night before the Blues game I stopped by here for dinner and pre-game drinks, and my experience was much the same as FH. J. Bucks is very nice on the inside. Very well decorated. You can sit at the bar and not feel like you at a restaurant, or you can get a table or booth and not feel like you're at a bar. What bothers me is the menu. Everything feels really overpriced. I went for the cheapest option on the menu a half pound burger with lettuce tomato, and onion with house chips and it was $8. The burger was ok at best, a bit over cooked and dry. The house chips were awesome though. The beer list is weak. A-B/InBev products for the most part. Our waitress was awesome. I was part of a group of 8, but she was on top of everything and couldn't of been nicer. I really want to like J.Bucks, but for what you pay I don't feel like you get much bang for you buck (no pun intended).

All I can say is overpriced and underwhelmed. I've been to this J.Buck's for a few lunches and happy hours and I've never been impressed. They fall short on (1) service, (2) food, and (3) price. Like many other reviews touched on, their service is extremely lacking - it's either rude, slow, or non-existent. On top of that, the food is nothing special. I had their BBQ Macho Nachos today and was not impressed. The prices are way too high for traditional American food. After tax and tip, my lunch was $15! The only reason I've been there more than once is because I work in the building, so it's a convenient lunch/happy hour, but I try to avoid it as much as possible.

3 stars for their chicken fingers which are a must have! Service stunk, no personality. We were the ones saying Thank-You, not our waiter.

Good first trip to this J. Buck's location! We came here on a Friday night before a Cardinal game and had to wait about 30 minutes (not a surprise). It's such a quick walk from Busch Stadium that it's always packed on game days/nights. However, the wait was exactly as long as they quoted us, which was appreciated. It took a bit for the server to come around, but the hostess totally triple-sat her, and like I already mentioned, it was packed. So no biggie. The food didn't take too long to come out, which was good since my husband didn't want to miss first pitch. I got the buffalo chicken wrap (86 gorgonzola, sub shredded cheddar), and it was freaking awesome! I have an affinity for buffalo chicken wraps, and this one was probably the best I've ever had... if not at least in the top 3 of my life thusfar. Everything about it was good - the chipotle tortilla was chewy and flavorful. The ranch and buffalo sauce amounts and flavors were spot-on, and the lettuce was nice and crunchy. A little bit of black bean and corn salsa sweetened the deal. Success!! My husband got the turkey sandwich on pretzel bread, which was really good. He proclaimed it as "one of the best turkey sandwiches" he'd had in a long time. And that was even after he ordered it without all the good stuff like cheese and bacon! However, we both agreed that the accompanying chips were pretty disappointing. They were just thin and flavorless. A little thicker cut and some bolder seasoning would have made them so much better. All in all, a good place to hit up before the game... or whenever! Definitely gotta go back for that buffalo chicken wrap...mmmmm.

We just ate there tonight. We were at the Cardinals game and wanted something close by. Joe Buck's is a short walk away. We got there at 6:30 and were promptly seated. Our section was full and only had 2 servers. Ours was pleasant. She came to our table and informed us they were out of BBQ. Which was a disappointment since this is a BBQ restaurant and it was only 6:30pm. So instead we ordered fried pickles and a French dip sandwich. After our drinks came, we were informed that they were out of fried pickles now. So I ordered the pretzel sticks instead. Once our pretzels arrived we were told they were now out of the French dip sandwiches. At this point we had already invested too much time and money to leave and go some place else. We ordered French onion soup and smoked hot wings and the limited-time pizza burger. All of it was horrible. The pretzel was over cooked served with boring cheese. The onion soup was HUGE, but had absolutely no flavor, and was room temperature. The smoked wings were extremely greasy. The pizza burger was boring and dry. And the fries were too salty. And I love salt, so that is saying something! Overall it was overpriced quick serve food. We tried to order a slice of the huge cookie ice cream cake to go, but our waitress said it would be to hard to box....soooo I guess that meant we didn't get any? We had a 1.5 hour drive ahead of us and thought we might get at least SOME kind of culinary satisfaction with dessert. N-O-P-E. The best part was more and more people kept coming in and you could see the looks on their faces when they were told how many items they were out of......AFTER they sat down and ordered drinks. The women's bathroom was a mess. Toilet paper on the floor, the feminine hygiene waste basket was over flowing, and the sink counter had water and soap everywhere. The huge pictures of the owner with different celebrities that decorated the walls should have been a clue to leave ASAP. You couldn't pay me to go back there. Thanks for ruining my ONE night out with my husband in 6 months.

Coworkers and I were staying nearby for work, so we took a walk over to J. Buck's for dinner one night. There were about 10 of us, but it didn't seem to be a problem. The hostesses didn't seem to care very much (about anything), but the bar and wait staff were excellent. We started off in the bar and then moved to a table. Our waiter was funny and super nice, and I wish I could remember his name. I had Julie's Club Salad, which was yummy. Not great, but good. Some of my coworkers had been there before and were lamenting the menu's loss of their St Louis style ribs. Some of them went ahead and ordered the baby back ribs, and they said they were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the sauce was apparently delicious. When in StL, I would definitely go again. J. Buck's isn't an outstanding meal, but it's good and a good time. :)

I've been to Joe Buck's (as it's now called) at least a dozen times in the last year for a mix of reasons--happy hour, pre-Blues game, business lunch, after work, etc, and I've never been let down. My better half and I always order the chips and french onion dip appetizer which is phenomenal. House-made chips are a bit of a staple at the places we frequent in St. Louis, and Joe Buck's does them pretty well, however, it's the french onion dip that you'll want to put on anything you order--burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc. Bits of fried onion buried in and topped on the dip is a subtle touch that goes a long way to enhance the dish. The burger at Joe Buck's is what I usually order, although their "go crazy" option to add anything and everything you want to it means no two could ever taste the same. The one gripe I have with the burger is that when I order mushrooms, sometimes I get a patty-sized portabella on top of the burger, and other times I get some generic sliced mushrooms from a can. I've asked a few people who work there, and they've always said it's supposed to be the latter, but I've ordered mushrooms almost every time, and had the portabella about half. Go figure. The bun is also top notch, and it will soak up the burger and topping juice without falling apart. Other items like the French Dip and pulled pork sandwich are good for a change, but I can't say I'd go out of my way for them like I would for the burger. The beer prices are standard, but Happy hour (4-7, I think, just not before Cardinal home games) makes everyone happy with $2 drafts and half-price pizza and appetizers. The tap selection is a little more broad than you'd find at most places, with Boddington's one that stood out. The special is valid before Blues games, and they'll also take a % off your bill with a blues ticket for that night--I don't believe it's valid for happy hour prices, though. The pizza is my other favorite here. I find it to be constructed very well, and it's remarkably consistent. The toasted ravioli is my personal favorite because it's like getting a side of ravioli for $1 extra than the regular cheese pizza. A truly hungry person could finish it, but ordering it to split is probably recommended. At half-price during their happy hour, 4 people could split 3 pizzas on the cheap. Service isn't award winning, but the beer is always cold and food is always hot when it arrives, and I don't think I could ask for much more. The prices are what I've come to expect in downtown, but the menu is big enough to find something you like and get a lunch for under $10/person. Parking is the only issue I've found, but my office is within a walk, so I can't say I've explored every option. They have a small lot behind the restaurant (be careful not to get on the highway by accident when turning off of Clark) and there's limited street parking in a pretty safe part of downtown (very safe during Cardinal games).

The vibe is pretty cool. The location of this place, a couple blocks from Busch Stadium adds quite a bit of excitement. Unfortunately, that's about it. The food isn't that great. I guess I expected a little more upscale and that is not what I experienced.

OK, fine, I've been to J. Buck's in the past and it absolutely sucked. The food was brutal, service terrible, beer average at best (except Schlafly, of course). I stayed at a hotel near the place and had little choice given the weather outside but to walk over the J. Buck's. They have a fancy banner on the outside of the restaurant touting their BBQ. Given that I love BBQ, I figured this was a good start. There were 4 in our party and we all had BBQ items including the pulled pork, beef brisket and ribs. Wow. The meat was smoked (even their new chicken wing app is smoked!), tender and very slightly charred on the outside. The sauce choices were very good (including mustard sauce) and my entire party was thrilled. I will absolutely stop by here before/during/after my next Cardinals game or trip back to STL.

Had the lamb shank over lentil. Pretty different but tasty. My server recommended a chocolate martini that was great. Salad before your entree' and last touch or something like that as a small dessert. I was satisfied. I picked a meal that was $25 alone, not too pricey but no value type meals. it could go up to about $40-55 for one person. I saw a small child with their family. candles on te table threw me off, this was not a date.

For BBQ this is the worst place I've ever ate at. The brisket was totally dry and cold The Mac n cheese with bacon was bland. The potatoe salad was really tangy. Tasted like a cold over sour screamed baked potato. The smoked wings were little. On the plus side their ranch was great! I will Not be returning.

Love the Wolverine Pep Band, and the fact that J. Buck's is conveniently located to host a Michigan Alumni pre-game rally, with our hockey team in town. Hockey Chick and I had a table at the feet of the director, which gave us plenty of decibels for our facebook video, and re-booted my brain for breakaways and body checks. This seemed to be pretty much a drinks-and-appetizers kind of affair, so that's the direction we went. A smiling server checked with the kitchen, and let us know that the Macho Nachos could not be consumed by HC, since the tri-color "corn" chips are not gluten-free. But Carole's House Chips were safe. The French onion dip had something mixed in that also was not gluten-free, so HC loaded hers with picco de gallo (I guess that's sort of an upscale fries-and-ketchup), while sipping a glass of cabernet. The wine list here is pretty good, at least for someone like me who is plenty happy when finding a good value on Napa/Sonoma labels. Prices look more like a 2x markup from what you'd find at retail, rather than the 3x and higher I find at many places. Others may say that J Buck's isn't the trendiest or tastiest downtown dining option. But if you're a sports fan on your way to Busch Stadium or the Scottrade Center, you'll do just fine with drinks and appetizers.

I discovered this spot on Memorial Day when a friend of mine insisted we check it out. My expectations were just moderate. It has an upscale feel for St. Louis and the pricing was very reasonable compared to most cities. The service was great. For apps we tried the spinach dip which was average, and the fried mushrooms which were very good. For dinner I had the ribs and 2 meat combo (brisket and pulled pork), and ALL 3 were awesome. Tender, juicy, with great BBQ sauce. The baked beans were ok and the cornbread was weak, but the meat made up for it. He had a turkey sandwich and enjoyed it. I'll definitely be going back!

On a recent trip to St. Louis, I asked my friend to take me to a local place where we could get some barbecue. She did a bit of research, and we decided on Joe Buck's. We had toasted ravioli as an appetizer, and it was good, I enjoyed it. A bit expensive ($9), though. I ended up getting the grilled chicken sandwich, and tried all the barbecue sauces on the table. They were absolutely awesome! My friend got the turkey & two sides, and I tried a bite of her turkey, and it was really good, but would make an even better sandwich. The food was good, overall, although a bit pricey. The staff was great. We went on a Wednesday evening, around 8pm, and there were only 2 other families dining in. They have a rooftop bar/dining area, although it's only open night that the Cardinals are playing. I think it would be fun to go back and dine on the roof sometime. :) Overall, I would recommend Joe Buck's.

hit JBucks before a concert on a Friday night. We didn't have reservations and there were 6 of us so we thought it would be tough to get a table. We must have had luck on our side because we ended up being seated right away. Service was prompt and attentive. So no complaints there. I had BBQ pork sandwich. It was pretty good. Not even close to Pappy's or Bogarts but pretty good. Friends raved about the ribs. Not as pricey as we thought. I'd go back.

  • Zach X.

It's still pricey and mediocre overall, but it's worth pointing out that they've added bbq to the menu. Although it's not life-changing or anything, the pulled pork and smoked turkey are both pretty good - I recommend the pulled pork pizza and smoked turkey chopped salad. Corn bread is seriously good too (seems to contain about a stick of butter per piece, but whatever). Beer selection remains weak. Joe Buck remains a terrible sportscaster.

I made it J.Bucks around 5pm yesterday to meet up with my mom, her fiance, and my brother to eat before we headed down to Scottrade Center for the Blues game. The dining area wasn't at all busy but the bar was packed. Sadly I didn't get to check it out but I was promptly greeted by the hostess and let her know how many people were going to be at my table and she quickly seated me in the middle of the dining area. My family arrived shortly after I was seated and menu's were brought to the table. Our server appeared and took our drink order as we talked and looked over the menu. The interesting thing here was that they offered several BBQ options which, later at the game, there was a commercial promoting the new menu items. At the time I thought it would be nice to try these out on my next visit. Looking over the menu things seemed kind of on the expensive side I noticed. As I was thinking that our server appeared again though he was empty handed and apologized that the bar was a bit busy and our drinks would be up shortly. Now I've worked in the restaurant business before but I thought it was quite odd that he would come back to the table empty handed. Little did I know this was pre-emptive damage control. We ordered our food and shortly after he came back with our cocktails. The restauarant was filling up and I could see from my table a door to what looked like a private seating area open and shut. I thought it looked pretty neat and, had I been alone would have liked to have investigated the restaurant a bit more. We drank our drinks and then our food came out. Our server though was no where to be found as we were ready for another round. We sat and ate our food and I could see our server darting back and forth between the bar and the private area. Our attempts to flag him down were futile. Having to use the facilities I walked past the hostess station and noted that we would like more drinks and that our server has disappeared for the last 15 minutes. I guess the hostess went off to find our server. By the time I got back to the table he still hadn't arrived to refresh our drink order. He came back and again apologized saying he was waiting on the owners in the private room. If that was the case then I think at this point, our server should have given our table to another server to take care of us. It was poor form for him to say that and made our table feel less important. Needless to say my mom's fiance reflected this sentiment in the tip. Did I mention he came back empty handed a second time when he explained this? Not only that but he was carrying another tables finished plates. Someone get this guy some help. My mom's fiance had the burger which he thought was exceptional. My brother and the sliders and my mom had the chicken sandwich. I got the French Dip and was surprised at how small the sandwich was but how large the heaping pile of fries I was given on the side as if to make up for the tiny sandwich. It was good but definitely not worth the $10 it was on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their food though which was the only saving grace to this evening. Let me make the comment that I've worked in several different restaurants and I know servers sometimes catch a lot of crap. I always give the server the benfit of the doubt and chances to redeem themselves. I also happen to tip very well since I was in the industry once. It pained me to see this server work and come by our table. I did feel bad when the tip was applied as well and was actually going to try to leave some extra cash but couldn't get away from my family so that they wouldn't see it. I did think it was unfair that the tip was so low but I also thought the servers actions, while truthful, were also unfair to our dining experience. I'm not sure if I will give this place another chance or not and based on this experience I doubt I would recommend it to anyone.

As if I didn't already despise this giant foreheaded mutant enough already, my hatred grew more last week. On a Saturday evening at 7pm, when most humans like to go out and go to dinner, the wife and I tried to find a place near the Scottrade Center prior to the start of a concert. I opened up Yelp and to my dismay, a thumbnail pic with Joe Buck's giant melon stared me back in the face. Seeing as we were somewhat pressed for time, I went ahead and caved in. After stepping in the front door, we noticed a small line of about ten people, which was very common for a weekend evening, so we grabbed a spot at the back of the line near the hostess area. After waiting for ten minutes for anyone ahead of us to get seated, I asked the group in front of us how long they had been waiting and they replied "fifteen minutes and no hostess has even shown up". I made my way up to the bar to check for seating since I figured we'd be in and out quickly to make the show. On the way to the bar, I noticed that both in the main dining area, and in the bar, that there were a slew of tables available and yet with nobody around to seat us. I asked the bartender "Can I just grab a table in here to order some food?". He replied "No, you'll have to go back to the front where the hostess will seat you." I walked back to the hostess area with the other angry folks hoping that the bartender would grab a hostess and tell her to go up front and seat people. After ten more minutes and no hostess, we walked out. Thanks Joe Buck, you've confirmed that your restaurant sucks as badly as your broadcasting skills. Jagoff.

This place would have gotten a four but the servcie started out terrible. Not real busy but it took the waitress 10 minutes to take my drink order. Other than that the food was good, ribs fell off the bone and the onion rings were fantastic. French fries were normal, should have gotten the homemade chips. Slaw was also pretty tasty.

The food is fantastic, especially the BBQ! The staff is friendly, but not the most attentive, but if you like food and a lot of it for the price, this is the place. The only downside, Joe Buck's picture and name are every six inches. If you have an Alzheimer's Patient that wants to go out, this might be a good place.

Do not go with a large group. It took one hour fifteen minutes for our food to begin to arrive. Most was wrong and had to be sent back. After well over an hour and a half everyone finally had their food. This is the second time with a large group and the second time the wait was over an hour to get our food.

I'm rather sad that I have to write this review. My family and I have been long time patrons of JBucks (or now, Joe Bucks). Of course it's not going to be perfect every time we visit but this last time was the last straw. There was a party of 4 of us the Thursday after Christmas. We arrived just after 6. Yes we did expect somewhat of a wait but were surprised when we were told the wait would only be 20 minutes! We happily agreed to wait and stepped into the atrium next to the restrooms. 20 minutes past. 25 minutes past. 30 minutes past. Still nothing. I walked up to the front to inquire how much longer our wait would be. Instead of the hostess there was a male server there who informed me our wait would now be an additional 45 to 60 minutes. I said our name was on top of the list, we had been told the wait would be 20 minutes and did the original hostess lie to us. She came up at this moment. Both the server and hostess assumed snotty attitudes. They were really rude about the entire situation. Neither apologized for the wait or their behavior and neither offered to do anything to make the situation better (i.e. letting us wait at the bar or at least order drinks/ice water while we waited). We were not the only group lied to about the wait time and we were not the only group that left. I did email the general manager but never received anything in reply. Super disappointed in our experience and unless we are desperate for food after a Blues or Cards game, we will not be returning to Joe Bucks.

this place hates vegetarians!! they give away big batches of free bird after winning Cardinal's games but refuses to make exceptions for those of us who choose not to eat animals. so my husband & i order the spinach -artichoke dip w/ chips. it costs $10 and the free wings are normally $12 and they won't even sell it to us for half price on a winning night?????!!!!!!!! "J Sucks", i mean "J Bucks" needs to be equitable and offer food choices to all baseball fans.

Too weird - same restaurant - same city.- same trip - two locations anyway. Don't ask - the why is not interesting! Good downtown restaurant. I came here with a group and we were seated on the patio. It was a great locale for a party group, and the food was good. It was Restaurant Week if that matters to anyone reading this. I got the Filet - ordered medium rare, but came medium well. I almost sent it back, but it was tender and tasty in spite of the non-rare status, so I kept it. Way better quality of meat than I had at Jake's the night before (see my review on that) Overall, a good choice in downtown St. Louis.

We were pleasantly surprised. First off, our server was food allergy educated, so she provided some options for my son. It was good. Then my husband & I tried the bbq. The brisket was not as good as the ribs & pulled pork. Corn bread muffins & Mac & cheese was awesome! We'd come back again!

In town on business, decided to try for lunch. Chicken wings smoked first then fried were excellent. However that is where the excellence ended. I ordered the pork BBQ for my meal. It was the saltiest meat I have ever tasted. I was not able to finish my portion. My colleague ordered both BBQ and beef brisket. He said the same thing about the BBQ and the brisket was not much better. Unfortunately, 8 hours later I am still tasting the salty BBQ. I had to skip dinner tonight because I'm still a bit off from the meat. My advice: stop in for wings and maybe a beer but that's it.

Food is good. Ambiance & atmosphere is excellent. Service though leaves a lot to be desired. Disinterested waitstaff. That's ok, I'll just hit you on the tip. Steps away from Busch Stadium and Scottrade Center so perfect before or after a game or event.

I suppose this place is fine for beer and sports. But Joe should be ashamed to put his name on the terrible BBQ I was served. The brisket was dried out beyond recognition and this was some of the first of the day (11 am) so it's not like it should have been in the smoker all day. The sauce can't save it. Total strikeout.

My husband and I ate at Joe Buck's following the Cards' game on August 15. The ambiance was good and our server was excellent. The food was disappointing. My husband's pulled pork sandwich was filled with big pieces of fat. He was able to eat less that half of the sandwich. the sweet potato fries were good. I had chicken tenders which were OK, but the side salad that accompanied them was lacking. The fresh tomatoes and onions were good, but the lettuce mix smelled and tasted musty or moldy. We will seriously have to rethink if we are willing to return.

I have never had bad service here. Plus their sweet potato fries...their mac and cheese.....O.M.G. You'll be welcomed by the amazing smell of barbeque'd goodness before you even touch the door handle. Perfect pre game spot whether cheering on the Birds or Blues. #WhyILoveStL

I had a cheeseburger and it was horrible! The onion rings were good though. The cheeseburger patty looked like it was pulled from a box, the cheese on the cheeseburger looked like processed cheese. The lettuce was slightly wilted and just ughhhh. Not happy at all with the service as the waiter was simply not interested in helping us.

The beef brisket gave me diarrhea. Joe Buck's puts the #2 in "We'll See You Tomorrow Night!"

We are brand new to downtown living in St. Louis and this place is only steps away from where we live so it was only a matter of time til we tried it out. Service was excellent. Our waitress was super-friendly and VERY knowledgeable on the menu offerings. She was enthusiastic, pleasant and attentive. All the great qualities you'd want with service. Food was alright. Good taste but certainly not the best I've ever had. Prices are alright. I found the portions to be much less than expected. The mashed sweet potatoes were alright but more of a purée of sorts. Good flavor but not the best texture. Corn muffin was a disappointment. It wasn't hot and slightly chilly in the middle. It was also quite flaky which I didn't like. What saved this dinner was the excellent service. Will we be back? Of course.

This is a great spot for pre and post-Cards game drinks. I've eaten here once, about a year ago, and the food was somewhere between a chain restaurant and a pretty decent local spot so again, for the purpose of pre/post-games more than acceptable. The bar is pretty lively as well and stocked full of choices. The staff has always been very pleasant and quick to take care of the patrons. Idk if I would go on a non-game day necessarily but that's more b/c of the location for me personally. I like to park at the lot just North of the restaurant on Clark for $20. Easy access to 64-W after the game.......which is nice if you want to skip post-game drinks which in essence makes this review kind of useless so don't do that. Go drink. It's the right thing to do as a St. Louisian. :)

The best thing I had was the Diet Pepsi. Decided to try the 3 meat platter and got the thoroughly dry pulled pork, the mostly dried out brisket and the desert dry turkey. We also ordered the flavorless sesame shrimp as an appetizer. Usually a restaurant can get something right (other than diet pepsi) but not Joe Buck's...in addition to everything being dry it was all bordering on cold...sad statement for a place that was mostly empty. All the quality of fast food but at 5X the price...save yourself the grief.

Wings were ok.brisket was too dry, pulled pork burger's buns were way bigger than the meat, coleslaw was weird, salad was not fresh.jeeeeez.one of the worst places i have ever been to.as a foodie i have standards.either the food is good or service was bad or servece was excellent and food was horrible,in this case they were both BAD!!.we didn't even get the forks and knives when the food arrived we had to get up and go ask somebody to get them.ugh!

I always thought that when you went to a restaurant that when you are over the age of 10 your drinks should some in a glass and not a plastic cup. I thought for a minute that we were at a frat party. The waitress was very attentive. I think she filled my water glasses every other time I took a drink from it. I ordered the pork loin, sweet potatoes and broccoli. My food was very good, I loved the cranberry sauce on the pork loin. However, I think that they must have gotten a little heavy handed in the kitchen, the sweet potatoes had too much brown sugar. No Moscato on the menu, the waitress recommended a bubbly something, not so good..... Note to self don't expect good wine in a bbq place.

The wrap my wife got was WAY too spicy but my dish was ok. The place was not very busy and for some reason service was amazingly slow. Maybe it takes a long time to walk from end to end because it's a very big floor but overall I found myself unsatisfied with the wait times for both food delivery and close-out of the check. I don't think I'll be returning unless some off chance brings me there, maybe a ball game or something i don't know.

The wife and I finally tried J Bucks. We both got BBQ plates with different meats so that we could try several. Her plate was baby backs and a sausage with cheese and tomato in it. She got the mac and cheese for her side. The sausage was unique but very good. ribs had a great texture, but not sure how they tasted as they were smothered with way too much BBQ sauce. The sauce is already on the table so let people put their own on. The mac &cheese was good according to the wife, as she ate it all w/o offering to share. I got the brisket and the pulled pork. the brisket had a wonderful taste, but could have been little more tender. Not that much of an issue that I would not get it again. The pulled pork very good, very clean, just not enough on the plate in my opinion. I was going to get the baked beans as my side but when I ask that girl about them all she would say was there just plain baked beans. I opted for the coleslaw instead, and it was really good.

Stopped in for dinner with my mom before a Cards game. Was surprisingly tasty, and had even more surprisingly tasty bbq...who would've thought? Wasn't very crowded and the service was great. I'm sure it can vary day to day, but our experience there was great. Will be back again when we go to Busch.

I stopped here with coworkers on a warm, summer day before a Cardinal's game. We were looking for something a bit more substantial to eat before the beer that we knew we'd overconsume, and Joe Buck's was the place to go. We ordered a variety of greasy and non-greasy appetizers. Each was a larger portion than expected, and though some were definitely unhealthy, I didn't feel as weighed down as I normally would after a big meal of appetizers. Our server was fantastic. I probably drank at least two more mixed drinks than planned, because she was so quick to ask if we wanted a refill! While I don't know the area, I'd definitely come back here pre-Cardinals game if I were to return...though not sure my Cubs fan of a Husband would let me! I must confess: not a fan of Joe Buck the person, but a-ok on the restaurant, dude.

Ate here with family, we're all from out of town and we picked this place without knowing any better. My dad got the brisket and it was the driest brisket hes ever had. For the side he got the potato salad and it was disgusting, I think it was made with mustard....maybe its a st louis thing? Im not sure. I had the ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were tough and dry. The pulled pork was like shoe leather and had about as much taste. The only thing that I had that was palatable was the smoked chicken wings. They were decent but not exceptional. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed. The food is good. The service is poor. Monday night during the All Star break, the Home Run derby is on tv, I figure Joe Buck's might be a pretty decent place to eat and watch some baseball festivities. Wow, was I wrong! This place is dead! The bartender took my order, offered me another beverage only once during 2 hours, I had to flag him down for a 3rd drink. My food was delivered by a cook, so its likely it sat in the window for a few minutes before being delivered. I also observed other tables flag him down not only for placing orders but for another order of drinks or refills. Seriously, maybe 3 tables, 6 people total. This is why Joe Bucks is dead on a Monday night during the All Star break. The service is poor! This is a celebrity sports bar, I'm a baseball fan, at least pretend to want my money. Also, sometime around 9:15 the phone at the hospo stand rang for a good 3-4 minutes, no one, including the bartender and a server, bothered to answer it. I really wanted to like this place more than I did, but the service completely killed my experience.

I've been there several times in the past and the food was always very good, but this time it was very average. I had a hamburger with bleu cheese and it was very dry. The onion rings were good. Service was ok, but staff wasn't very friendly.

After having been to this restaurant over 20 times (my old office was a block away), I realized I should write a review. First things first, the atmosphere of this place changes remarkably depending on whether you are there during a Blues/Cardinals game. If you are there during a game, expect a packed and fun atmosphere with a lot of cheering (hopefully anyway). If you are not there on game day, the place is usually more subdued and low key. Either way, the staff is stellar (and had little turnover as far as I can tell) and the food is very good (admittedly not great, but still much better than average). This isn't just a place with Mr. Buck's name on it, it is a restaurant that has developed a good atmosphere with an above average menu and stellar staff. Although I usually don't seek out Buck's (which may be a result of it being kind of by itself), it is still a good restaurant bar that I am glad to have in St. Louis,

We were downtown for the game and realized without a reservation someplace, our choices for dinner were slim. We stopped in here and while they were full with reservations, we were able to sit on the very nice patio in the back. Our server, Patrick, was friendly and did a nice job taking care of us. I had the 1/2 Cobb salad and thought it was good and plenty big. Hubby and Sarah had the tenders and they both thought they were good. The sweet potato fries were very good. We didn't really check out much on the menu, but what we had was solid bar food.

Great beer menu. The Smoked wings are delicious. but the ribs are the reason to go here. I had the pulled pork, Rueben (on special) and a few more items however the wings and especially the Ribs are worth the trip

I love Joe buck but don't go here! It is way overpriced in my opinion. We started off with the pretzel sticks appetizer and they came to our table two minutes later which at first I was impressed but then I took a bite and they were stale as if they were sitting out for a while. We ordered house salads and the croutons caused me to choke because they were so hard and stale. The cheese had no flavor. Just an all around bad experience and I won't be returning.

I went here for lunch last Monday--It was my first time at Joe Buck's. I have always known about Joe Buck's but never heard much about it. It wasn't busy at all and I promptly found a seat. I normally don't order Salads at restaurants cause I feel like I'm wasting the experience (tells you what I think of salads for meals). However, this time I was in the mood for something relatively light but still filling. I got the Grilled Or "Our Famous Chicken Tender" Salad, it was the most appealing option at the time. I was very surprised with how good it was. The dressing wasn't too overpowering and there was just the right amount. It had bacon bits, grilled chicken, bleu cheese, and cranberries on it. It was very flavorful and worth it. I got the half order and it still filled me up. I almost forgot! It came with a soft pretzel on the side... I am a sucker for soft pretzels. I will come back here to explore some of the other options if I have time. It was an overall pleasant experience.

Joe Bucks is a solid 3 stars any way you slice it. For everything that's great, there's something a little annoying. We went yesterday before the Cardinal game. The service was kind of spotty - it took my friend about a half hour to get a second beer - they seemed to be mixed up about who was going to bring it. The server said she even asked about it at the bar and still nothing happened. There are not enough TV's in the fron dining area. There was only one and it was righ above our table, so we couldn't see it. I think they're trying to be a sports bar and grill, so this is kind of important. I tried the wings, which were very good, and the pulled pork, which was good, but lacked the taste of smoke. Very tender, though. The baked beans were good, but the portion was kind of small and the cole slaw was not at all memorable. Nice and convenient to the Stadium. They could improve their beer selection - draft and bottle both. All in all, pretty A-OK.

The food was only ok; we got a burger and pulled pork sandwich. One of the best parts of the meal was the sauces. The ranch and bbq sausces were really good! The atmosphere and service was great.

We came to Joe Bucks for a company dinner. I have to say Patrick and the crew were outstanding!!! There were originally 50 people who rsvpd and we had At least 50 more walk on. He and his crew were gracious and friendly. They set up tables and made the whole food situation amazing. I have to say being in the food industry before I would have killed to have Patrick and his co workers as employees. A true class act. The food was great and all 100 of us had an amazing time. Thanks!
